Parish Ministries

Members of St. Benedict’s are encouraged to serve in one or two of the parish ministries below.

Altar & Worship

Dcn. Timothy Wilson
- Crucifer, Torch-bearer, and Thurifer
- Licensed Epistolar and Cup-Bearer
- Assisting with the Daily Offices
Susan Williams
- Participate in 9 am Sunday Choir, feast days, and Wednesday Evensong
- Commit to Wednesday, 7 pm Rehearsal
- Sing in the Annual Advent Concert

- Reading of Holy Scripture during the Daily Offices and Holy Communion

- Greeters prepare the parish hall prior to worship
  - Sunday Coffee Set Up
  - Creates a welcoming environment
  - Assists Visitors
- Ushers prepare the nave for worship
  - Assist with seating
  - Counts Attendance
  - Receives Offerings
  - Directs reception of Holy Communion

Becky Elliston
- Assists with teaching and serving Sunday Kid’s catechesis classes
- Serve every 4-6 weeks
Dcn. Timothy Wilson
- Assist with Young Adult ministry initiatives, meetings, service opportunities.
Fr. Michael Vinson
- Participate as a lay—adult catechist under the direction of the Vicar.
Jodi Vinson
- Volunteer, help, and/or facilitate Wine, Women & Psalms monthly gatherings
- Help with the Annual Spiritual Retreat

- Preparing the altar and sanctuary for liturgical worship
- Preparation for feast days, weddings, and funerals
- Altar Flowers and season-specific decorations (e.g. nativity during Advent)
- Procurement and maintaining of altar linens, sacred vessels, candles, & clergy vestments
John Martinez
Security
- Maintains security policy & protocols
  Serves on a Sunday Security Rotation, monitoring property and building
Gary Akin
- Counts, records, and verifies tithes & offerings collected from worship services
- Prepares & secures deposit

Fr. Michael Templin
- Men’s Theological Think Tank:
  - Promote, recruit friends, co-lead
- St Benedict’s Fellows:
  - Assist with Morning Prayer
  - Join Breakfast Team
  - Organize/Attend Men’s Parish Work Days
  - Help with the Annual Spiritual Retreat
Jim Hall
- Assist the parish brewmaster in producing beer, made, and wine for parish worship and celebrations.
- Serve as an apprentice or master brewer under the direction of the Parish Brewmaster.
Akins & Douphrates
- Volunteer to assist with annual meetings and Hope & Healing groups.
- Advocate for the ministry within the community.

- Lay members assisting clergy with Group meetings

J Romine
- Ensures a hospitable environment
- Oversees Sunday Coffee & Donuts
- Organizes and facilitates parish potlucks & events (eg. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Race, Annual Parish meeting brunch, etc.)

- Fellowship of Smoke Ring BBQ Team
- Community Food Events
- Larger Parish Food Events
- Set Up, Cooking, Serving, Clean Up

- Provide food, set up/decorate, greet, present!

- Promote, pray for, and increase awareness of parish participation in foreign missions.

Brikena Wilson/Robert Rohde
- Serve on property mowing rotation.
- Must be a licensed driver and have completed safety training to operate the riding mower.

- Helping to care for the Mary Ellen Hall Prayer Garden and all other landscaped areas.
- Weekly blowing, sweeping, and clean-up around entries and parking areas.
